Barbara Bui was searching for her inspiration in bright ethnic prints and colourful street style wears for her spring-summer 2017 collection. Among the audience of the runway show in Grand Palais in Paris were internationals journalists, stylists and bloggers, including Sara Waka (contributor of L’officiel Italia), actress Sara Ellen and Olivia Palermo.
Barbara Bui showed an encounter between craftsmanship and modern materials. She mixed textured fabrics, leather, patchwork and embroidery with vinyl, lacquered silks and technical taffeta.
Flirty and vivacious, the collection consists of jackets and parkas, asymmetric crop tops with similar mini skirts.
Fluid neon dresses, coats and trousers, vinyl shorts, tops and even jackets are very fresh and sporty with youthful vibes and athleticism. A visible influence of men’s suits was present among all these psychedelic shades. Bright, sexy and rather edgy.
Not to overwhelm with gleam and neon, Barbara Bui added some sober colours like navy blue, beige and tender pale pink in her collection.
The dualism of the collection is also seen in accessories. Ankle boots vs men’s shoes, maxi clutches vs hip bags to remember that fashion is a pretty spectacular game.
