Stripes are universal and unisex. Thus this week’s spring trend is also applicable to men – bold and bright stripes!
Stripes in Men’s closet are a lot more common: chalk and pin striped suits, striped business shirts: bengal, candy, pencil, barcode etc, and of course the classic breton top – a basic essential of every man’s closet.
Here are a few options of how you could mix this trendy design up with new styles and tips on giving the look an extra zing.
A complete opposite of your subtle stripe of office trousers- bald vertical design that’s definitely for the brave types. The rule with striped pants is simple- they have to be relaxed and roomy and this drop crotch style is perfect example of a casual bottom. The best way to pair this eye-catching piece is to ground it with simple yet elegant tops: a vest for summer will go beautifully with a tailored blazer. Tasselled slippers for the laid back cool.
Blazers, jackets, parkas… why not try the good old cardigan? A statement print is sure to update the look. Pair with simple basics not to distract from the cover-up.
Stripe on Stripe
When mixing stripes try to find a common point that will unite them: direction, colour, width. Though the direction of the stripe in this ensemble is opposite and the style is rather different, the garments are united via repeating white stripes and the navy/black gamut available on both pieces. The simplicity of the rollneck sweater offsets the stripe extravaganza of the jacket.
Stripes & Checks
When mixing prints, you also have an option of another popular graphic design – checks. To balance the combination, a simple white shirt is all you need. As for accessories – opt for complementing block colours.
