Though Milan Fashion Week has come to an end, and Paris is already in the spotlight, it would be impossible not to write about Missoni, and brand’s Winter 2016 collection. Besides, it is so fitting considering the chilly weather conditions in the French capital. All in all, Angela Missoni’s fall/winter collection was so warming and inspiring with its relaxed and bohemian sexy chic vibe.
You know it’s Missoni the moment you look at it. It’s one of those brands whose signature look is so true to the fashion house’s essence that it is immediately recognizable. The latest instalment from Angela Missoni was filled with the traditional hand-crafted knits in unmistakably Missoni-style kaleidoscopic graphic patterns: zigzags, vertical and horizontal stripes, triangles and squares.
The urban collection, filled with multicolored masculine-cut designs perfect for daytime: overcoats, capes, roomy trousers, shirts, jackets and sleeveless cardigans – it all has a feel of New York’s Manhattan in it.
For those who prefer close-fitting styles and snugly pieces, Missoni created oversize voluminous cardigans, chunky beanies, extra-long and blanket-style scarves and gorgeous lurex leggings.
The sparkly lurex (metallic shine trend alert for Fall) on the relaxed boho-feel transparent delicate knitted eveningwear ensembles, perfect for a night out in Soho, both alluring and oozing elegance in floor grazing lengths: wide cut trousers, cardigans, plissè knit dresses layered with boleros, bralettes and tops, with a hint for bell sleeve – shimmer in solid grey, ivory, powder pink, antique blue, lime and black shades.
While the mix of lurex and silk fringe produced some stunning cover-ups.
Missoni’s aesthetic is diffused throughout every aspect of the wardrobe: clothes, accessories, even shoes: the sporty sneakers are updated with customized prints from the collection, ballerina slippers get knitted laces, while patchwork leather sandals come in an array of metallic colours in line with the glimmer of lurex.
A natural fusion of comfort and style on Missoni’s runway is another form of eclecticism unique to the brand itself.
